Edition decks

Foil Deck

+50 Chips

All cards are Foil. Every scoring card adds 50 Chips.

Holographic Deck

+10 Mult

All cards are Holographic. Every scoring card adds 10 Mult.

Polychrome Deck

X1.5 Mult

All cards are Polychrome. Every scoring card multiplies Mult by 1.5.

Negative Deck

+1 slot

All cards are Negative. Each one held in hand raises your hand size by 1.

Random Edition Deck

Random edition

Each card rolls its own edition when the run starts, then keeps it.

Every playing card in the run carries the deck's edition, and nothing can change it. These five unlock once you have discovered every edition in your collection.

Seal decks

Red Seal Deck

Retrigger

All cards have a Red Seal, so each one triggers one more time.

Blue Seal Deck

Planet

All cards have a Blue Seal. Held at the end of the round, each makes the Planet card for your last hand.

Gold Seal Deck

All cards have a Gold Seal. Each one earns $3 when it scores.

Purple Seal Deck

Tarot

All cards have a Purple Seal. Each one discarded makes a Tarot card.

Random Seal Deck

Random seal

Each card rolls its own seal when the run starts, then keeps it.

Every playing card in the run carries the deck's seal, including cards added later, and nothing can change it.

Special decks

Deck of Equilibrium

Equal odds

Every Joker, consumable, voucher, booster pack and playing card has the same chance to show up in the shop. You start with Overstock and Overstock Plus.

Misprint Deck

0.1x to 10x

Each number on Jokers, consumables, playing cards and poker hands is multiplied by a random amount between 0.1x and 10x.

Infinite Deck

+1 hand size

Select as many cards as you like to play or discard, and hold one more card in hand.

Settings

Open Mods › Cryptid Decks › Config. These switches are for the edition decks. Each one decides whether a source of level-ups also applies the deck's edition to the poker hand it levels.

Planet cards
Black Hole
Jokers that level hands, like Space Joker
Any other source with an edition

When a switch is on, the hand gains +50 Chips for Foil, +10 Mult for Holographic or X1.5 Mult for Polychrome after it levels up. Negative has no effect here. All four start off.

Install

Install Lovely and Steamodded if you haven't yet.
Download the zip above and unzip it.
Move the CryptidDecks folder into your Mods folder: Windows: %AppData%\Balatro\Mods macOS: ~/Library/Application Support/Balatro/Mods Steam Deck & Linux: see the install guide
If you had the older EditionDecks folder there, delete it.
Start Balatro. The decks appear in deck select.

With Yahimod

If Yahimod is installed too, two more stakes appear: Black Whatsapp Stake and Gold Whatsapp Stake. Each plays like the vanilla stake it's named after, and you start the run with Dr. Whatsapp and two Hispanic Family Gatherings from Yahimod.

Credits

The decks and much of their logic come from Cryptid by SpectralPack, made by MathIsFun_ and the Cryptid and Balatro Discords. Cryptid Decks keeps the same GPL-3.0 license. The deck sprites were made with generative AI.

Cryptid Decks FAQ

How do I unlock the decks?

The five edition decks unlock once you have discovered every edition in your collection: Foil, Holographic, Polychrome and Negative. The seal decks, the Deck of Equilibrium, the Misprint Deck and the Infinite Deck are unlocked from the start.

What do I need to run Cryptid Decks?

Balatro with Lovely and Steamodded 26.829.0 or newer. The install guide covers both.

Do I need Cryptid installed?

No. Cryptid Decks ports these decks from Cryptid by SpectralPack, so you can play them without the rest of Cryptid.

What happened to Edition Decks?

Edition Decks became Cryptid Decks in version 1.1.0, when the seal decks and three special decks joined the five edition decks. Remove the old EditionDecks folder from your Mods folder before you install Cryptid Decks.

Which languages does Cryptid Decks support?

Every deck and setting has English text. The edition decks and the settings are also translated into German, Spanish, French, Japanese, Korean, Brazilian Portuguese, Russian, Vietnamese and Simplified Chinese. The newer decks are in English only for now.
